Overview: The Community Grant Program provides funding opportunities for non-profits, higher education institutions, and local government entities in Guåhan to receive funding for humanities programs that engage and empower the public. Through partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), up to $15,000 in matching funds are offered for eligible humanities programs.

Eligible Humanities Programming

Programs may include but are not limited to:

  • Lectures, seminars, and conferences

  • Workshops

  • Film or book discussion series

  • Panel discussions

  • Interpretive exhibits

  • Permanent and travelling fairs and festivals

  • Tours

  • Media productions (publications, radio, television programming, film, video)

  • Innovative program formats encouraging discussions among diverse audiences
  • Humanities Disciplines Supported

    History, modern and classical languages, literature, law, philosophy, comparative religion, ethics, and the history, criticism, and theory of the arts. Interdisciplinary areas including:

  • Pacific studies

  • CHamoru studies

  • Micronesian studies

  • Asian studies

  • American studies

  • Women and gender studies

  • Ethnic studies

  • Folklore and folklife

  • Projects offering perspectives on current political, social, or economic issues

    Eligible Applicants:

  • Guåhan non-profit organizations

  • Higher education institutions

  • Local government entities
  • NOT Eligible:

  • Individuals

  • Ad hoc groups

  • For-profit organizations
  • Federal Requirements:

  • Applicants must obtain a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) from the System for Award Management (SAM) by the application deadline. This replaced the DUNS number as of April 4, 2022.

    Application Steps

    1. Obtain or apply for UEI from SAM if you don't already have one
    2. Review the updated Community Grant Guidelines
    3. Prepare your application responses in a separate document
    4. Access the JotForm application
    5. Complete all required fields including Project Summary, Budget, and Budget Narrative
    6. Include the Humanities Expert form
    7. Optionally include Letters of Commitment and Support
    8. Submit before the deadline (do not submit late or incomplete applications)
