Overview

Community Good Grants Program

Geographic Scope: Daviess County, Indiana (with similar programs available through affiliate community foundations in Gibson, Knox, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick counties)

Program Description: The Community Foundation accepts funding requests once each year according to an annual grant cycle. Grants are normally given as one-time support of a project. Additional support for expansions or outgrowths of an initial project may be considered.

Funding Source: Grants are made possible by Community Good Unrestricted Funds and Field of Interest Funds.

    Grant Cycle Details

  • Grant cycle runs from June through October each year
  • Applications accepted from June announcement date through August deadline
  • Applications submitted after deadline will not be considered
  • Award notifications provided in writing no later than November 1

    Eligibility

  • Eligible Organizations:
  • - Nonprofit organizations deemed tax-exempt under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code - Governmental agencies serving the county - Nonprofit organizations not classified as 501(c)(3) public charity may be considered if the project is charitable and supports a community need (may require fiscal sponsor)

    Program Areas NOT Considered for Funding

  • Religious organizations for religious purposes
  • Political parties or campaigns
  • Endowment creation or debt reduction
  • Operating costs not directly related to the program/project
  • Capital campaigns
  • Annual appeals or membership contributions
  • Travel requests for groups or individuals (bands, sports teams, classes)

Orientation Meetings

New prospective grant applicants are invited to schedule a meeting with Regional Director of Community Engagement and Impact to receive an overview of the funding opportunity and ask specific questions.

Reporting

A final report at project completion may be required by organizations whose applications are approved for funding.

    The following supporting documents must be electronically attached to the grant application (Microsoft Word, Excel, or PDF documents):

    1. Current board roster with professional affiliations
    2. Organization's current annual operating budget (showing both expected income and expenses)
    3. Most recent financial statement (Statement of Financial Position/Balance Sheet and a Statement of Activities/Income and Expense Summary)
    4. Fiscal sponsor agreement letter (if applicable)
