Community Foundation Animal Welfare Endowments Grant

The Community Foundation Animal Welfare Endowments Grant, established in 1981 and now part of the Community Foundation of West Texas, provides essential funding to nonprofit organizations in the South Plains area. This grant aims to support initiatives that care for lost, abandoned, and injured animals. Funded through several endowments, it seeks to enhance animal welfare through various programs and services, ensuring the community can effectively address these critical needs.

The Foundation is one of more than 700 community foundations in the United States today. We serve the following counties that make up the Texas South Plains area, Bailey, Cochran, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Terry, and Yoakum by offering people a variety of ways to touch their community through philanthropic giving.
The Community Foundation Animal Welfare Endowments (formerly the Ruth C. Wright Endowment for Animals) provides grant funding for nonprofit organizations in the South Plains area that address the needs of lost, abandoned and injured animals. Funding is made possible through the Ruth C. Wright Endowment For Animals, Jimmy Nelson Endowment, and Alice Virginia White Endowment for Cats and Dogs.

Eligibility

Support from the Ruth C. Wright Endowment for Animals is restricted to organizations in the South Plains area that are 501(c)(3) or the government equivalent. Grants may be made for start-up funding, general operating support, program support, equipment and facilities, emergency needs and demonstration programs.

Ineligibility

The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, for political purposes, to retire indebtedness or for payment of interest or taxes.
