Elleta Nolte Scholarship Grant

The Elleta Nolte Scholarship, established by the Community Foundation of West Texas, honors the legacy of a determined woman who pursued her education later in life. It supports non-traditional students, including those overcoming significant challenges, single parents, and individuals seeking a second career. Each year, the foundation awards over 100 scholarships to empower South Plains area students, fostering a brighter future through education and philanthropic support.

Scholarships
The Community Foundation of West Texas is proud to award over 100 scholarships to South Plains area students each year. We work closely with the groups or individuals who have so graciously established scholarship funds to help out their community. Helping South Plains students today creates a stronger future for them tomorrow and beyond.
Elleta Nolte was a woman of great faith; a vibrant spirit who loved to learn! She let nothing stand in the way of accomplishing her dreams. At the age of 71 and having never been to college, she started working on a university degree. This led to her graduation from Texas Tech University at the age of 89! This scholarship was created to honor Elleta’s legacy, to motivate and inspire others, and to help remove an obstacle for someone who has decided to pursue a dream of higher education. It is open to current students who are interested in furthering their education.
