Overview

Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund (CCNSF)

Overview: A capacity-building grant program established by NYC Council in 2014 to support Black, Latino, and Asian-led community-based organizations (CBOs) throughout New York City's five boroughs.

Administering Organizations: Co-administered by New York Urban League, Hispanic Federation, Coalition for Asian American Children and Families, and Asian American Federation.

Geographic Scope: New York City (all five boroughs - Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Bronx, Queens)

Funding History:

  • 2014: $2.5 million allocated

  • 2022-2025: $3.755 million allocated annually by NYC Council

  • NYUL receives approximately $1.3 million annually for distribution

  • Total committed to Fund to date: $12.25+ million

  • 634+ capacity-building projects supported to date

  • 463+ organizations served by NYUL as of 2023
  • Eligibility:

  • Community-based organizations (CBOs)

  • Organizations that primarily serve a majority of African Americans as their constituency, OR

  • Organizations with 51% minority leadership on board/executive staff

  • Info sessions held in October prior to application period
  • Information Sessions:

  • Virtual community briefing webinars offered in October

  • Sessions by borough focus area (Manhattan/Brooklyn/Staten Island and Bronx/Queens)

  • RSVP required for Zoom access
  • Requirements:
    1. Submit Request for Application (RFA)
    2. Meet eligibility criteria (see overview)
    3. Organizational budget documentation
    4. Leadership composition documentation (if claiming 51% minority leadership)
