Combating Social Isolation of Older Adults Grant

The Combating Social Isolation of Older Adults Grant, provided by the Sephardic Home for the Aged Foundation, aims to combat elder abuse and neglect exacerbated by social isolation. This initiative recognizes that isolation can lead to severe mental and physical health issues among older adults. It promotes trauma-informed care and mental health services to help these individuals reconnect socially. Additionally, the Foundation supports intergenerational programming as a vital strategy to foster community connections and reduce isolation among seniors.

Note: All prospective grantees should first submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) through the online application system by the deadline above. Select LOI applicants will then be invited to submit a full grant application.

The grant aims to prevent and respond to elder abuse and neglect, which has been exacerbated by social isolation. The Foundation recognizes that isolation can lead to depression and physical ailments in older adults, and many have experienced barriers such as language and cultural differences that contribute to their isolation and lack of care.The grant supports trauma-informed care and mental health services for isolated older adults, aiming to help them reconnect socially in a dignified manner.Apart from direct care, the Foundation values intergenerational programming as a method to build social connections and reduce isolation.

Eligibility

To be considered for funding, organizations must meet the following eligibility requirements: Must be a nonprofit with a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status or have a fiscal sponsor that has a 501(c)3 tax-exempt statusMust be in operation for at least two years
