Since 2016, Next50 has been working toward creating a world that values aging. It’s expensive to age in Colorado and the rest of the country. That is why we invest in innovative and equitable ideas that build capacity and change systems to create economic opportunities for older adults and the organizations that serve them. We work with our partners by focusing on three priority areas of economic opportunity: Ending AgeismAdvancing Digital EquitySupporting Aging in Place Our Equity Focus and Mission-Aligned Populations Next50 supports organizations that align with our mission and core values. At Next50, equity is a key part of our mission and our core values. We are proud to incorporate justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into all aspects of our work. That is why all grant applications must demonstrate alignment with our mission and core values. Our mission mandates that we direct grant funding toward low- and moderate-income older adults, including those from historically marginalized and geographically underserved communities. Funding The maximum request amount is $150,000 a year.Multi-year funding is available for up to two years, for a total maximum request amount of $300,000.

Who Can Apply?Colorado-based nonprofits serving marginalized older adults organized under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code that are in good standing in Colorado, excluding universities and government entities.Next50 will allow organizations to apply through a fiscal sponsor.COR funding is available for efforts such as:Strategic planningFormation of strategic partnerships to address new fiscal challenges and take advantage of organizational strengths or consolidations.Training and other professional development to prepare staff to adapt to new realities.Technology upgrades and other infrastructure changes to promote organizational efficiency and stability.Efforts to identify new and sustainable funding streams.Efforts that improve the financial stability of the organization over the near- and long-term.All COR Applications must:Describe alignment of the organization’s work with one or more of Next50’s priority areas. Describe the organization’s connection to and work with one or more of Next50’s mission-aligned populations. Incorporate innovation by making a change or improvement to the organization’s work or processes that will allow it to be more effective, efficient, or sustainable. Funding must be used to improve the organization’s economic resilience, not just maintain the status quo. Multi-year requests are permitted for up to 2 years. Multi-year funding will only be awarded when it is clear that the second year will build upon the initiatives of the first. Limited funds are available for multi-year requests.

What Will Not Be Considered?Entities outside of ColoradoUniversitiesGovernment entitiesLLCs or for-profit organizations (We do not accept applications from for-profit organizations under a non-profit fiscal sponsor)Requests that duplicate state or federal funding including Medicare and Medicaid.Requests for matching state or federal funding.Lobbying, political campaigns, and requests to support a specific political position.Fundraising and general event sponsorshipsType III non-functionally integrated supporting organizations (as classified by IRS form 990, Schedule A, Part 1)Laboratory researchNext50 does not support basic science (wet lab) research.Wet-lab research includes projects where drugs, chemicals, and other types of biological matter are analyzed and/or tested.Next50 can and will support pilot projects, feasibility studies, and needs assessments that are research-based.These types of research activities are often necessary precursors to establish viability for the implementation of various innovations.
