Overview: Fund various fields of study for students pursuing 4-year degrees at educational institutions.

Fields of Study:

  • Business

  • Education

  • Health

  • Music

  • Arts

  • Literature

  • Math

  • Engineering

  • Marine or environmental studies

  • Community focused physical or mental health studies
  • Named Scholarships Include:

  • Education Pursuit: Two @ $5,000 (Women/Men)

  • Lottie McGovern STEM: Two @ $5,000 (Women)

  • Christine Munch Music/Arts/Literature: One @ $5,000 (Women)

  • Verna Wells Music/Arts: One @ $5,000 (Women/Men)

  • College Enrolled (Sophomore, Junior, Senior): Three @ $5,000 (Women/Men)

  • Marie Hapeman Post-graduate: One @ $6,000 (Women)

  • Verna Munks Academics: One @ $5,000 (Women only, minimum 3.5 GPA)

  • Marine or Environmental: One @ $5,000 (Women/Men)

  • Thelma Marani Health: Two @ $5,000 (Women)

  • Susan Woolsey Spirit of Community: One @ $6,000 (Women, 21+ years old)
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Anacortes High School or Cap Sante High School graduating senior or graduate; OR

  • Anacortes Home School and Public/Private School graduating senior or graduate who is current resident of zip code 98221 with proof of residence; OR

  • Current resident of zip code 98221 with proof of residence; OR

  • Student attending school in Anacortes with proof of attendance

  • Students must be applying to or attending 4-year educational institutions

  • Scholarships are for one year

  • Scholarships are granted for US-based educational institutions or programs

  • Study abroad programs for course credit at a US college/university are acceptable

  • Cannot have received two or more university/college/technical school scholarships from SIA previously

  • Note: Live Your Dream, Dream It Be It, or Woman of Distinction awards are NOT considered a college scholarship
  • Acceptable Forms of Proof of Residence in zip code 98221:

  • Student ID

  • Driver's license

  • Utility bill

  • Parental utility bill

  • Lease/rental agreement
  • Geographic Scope: Anacortes, WA area (zip code 98221)
