Club Recognition and Reward Grant

Overview: The Academy of Model Aeronautics offers cash incentives to AMA chartered clubs for positive local media coverage of public events, public service announcements, or other club-related coverage that promotes model aviation.

Geographic Scope: Clubs across the United States

Focus Areas: Local media coverage promoting model aviation and community engagement

Eligibility:

Club must be a current AMA chartered club

Media coverage must include the club's name and information about model aviation

Applications must be submitted within 3 months of media coverage

Event must be open to the public

Only earned media counts (not paid advertisements)

Clubs can apply multiple times per year

Maximum $175 per club per year

What They Fund:

Newspaper/magazine coverage: $50

Radio coverage: $100

Television coverage: $150

Bonus: Up to $25 additional if coverage includes "Academy of Model Aeronautics" spelled out/verbally stated

Bonus: Up to $25 additional if event is a club fundraiser benefiting a community organization

If coverage appears in multiple outlets, receive highest payout amount only

What They Don't Fund:

National Model Aviation Day events

Paid media/advertisements

Private events (must be open to public)

Key Notes:

Application Available: Year-Round

Award Announced: Within 2 weeks of application submission

Awards based on first-come, first-serve basis

When annual budget is reached, awards discontinued for the year

Application Process

1. Submit Online Application: Complete the online application form at the grant platform
2. Do NOT submit mailed applications - only online applications accepted
3. Required Information: Submit the media coverage (article, radio segment, or television clip)
4. Timeline: Submit within 3 months of media coverage date
5. Review: Application reviewed by AMA Foundation deputy director
6. Award Decision: Within 2 weeks of application submission

Required Materials:

Newspaper article, magazine article, radio segment transcript/recording, or television clip

Proof that coverage includes club name and model aviation information

Documentation of publication/broadcast date
