Clare Jean Siegel Memorial Scholarship

Overview: Bailey's Cafe is the fiscal sponsor for the Clare Jean Siegel Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of Clare Jean Siegel, the younger sister of Bailey's founder and executive director, Stefanie Siegel.

Background: Clare was committed to the field of Early Childhood Development, primarily through her work with Head Start, Save the Children and Zero to Three.

Geographic Scope: Baltimore City, Maryland

Eligibility:

  • Currently working at a Baltimore City Head Start

  • Lack a college education and are limited in positions they can hold and salaries they can earn

  • Pursuing a college degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field

  • Attending an accredited institution of higher learning located within the State of Maryland
  • Award Details: The scholarship supports tuition for a college degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Bailey's continues to support scholars until they successfully complete their undergraduate degrees.

    Recent Award History:

  • First round: Three women awarded

  • Second round: Two young women from Southeast Early Head Start in Baltimore awarded

  • Currently accepting applications for the 2024 scholarship

    2. Submit application materials as requested by the Scholarship Committee
    3. Applicants should demonstrate:
    - Current employment at Baltimore City Head Start
    - Commitment to completing a college degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
    - Readiness to complete degree and continue positive influence on Baltimore children and families

    Note: Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 scholarship cycle.
