Overview

City of Chino Healthy Homes Grant

Overview: NPHS in partnership with the City of Chino provides a one-time grant for home improvements and modifications designed to make homes safer, particularly to cure Health and Safety Code deficiencies or improve seniors' quality of life.

Award Amount: Up to $2,500 per household

Geographic Scope: City of Chino, California

Target Population:

  • Senior citizens (62 years of age or older)

  • Permanently disabled individuals with mobility issues
  • Focus Areas:

  • Home safety improvements

  • Health and Safety Code deficiency repairs

  • Modifications to improve senior quality of life

  • Coverage includes all costs: labor, supplies, and materials
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    1. Be an individual 62 years of age or older OR permanently disabled with mobility disabilities
    2. Be an owner-occupant of a single-family home or mobile home in the City of Chino
    3. Home cannot be sold for one (1) year from date funds are expended to contractor
    4. Maximum total family income (all adult household members, all income sources):
    - 1 person: $35,800
    - 2 person: $40,900
    - 3 person: $46,000
    - 4 person: $51,100
    - 5 person: $55,200
    - 6 person: $59,300
    - 7 person: $63,400
    - 8 person: $67,500
    (Based on 2016 CDBG Income Guidelines)

    Application Process: Applications processed on first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must complete and return application within 30 days. After three (3) contact attempts without response, file will be closed and name placed at bottom of waiting list.

    Work Standards: Finished rehabilitation work must be free of Health and Safety Code, Building Code, or other State and local code violations and must meet Section 8 Housing Quality Standards (HQS) at minimum.
