Chi Omega Christmas Market Grant Program

Funder: Chi Omega Education and Charity Fund of Dallas (Chi Omega Christmas Market), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization

Geographic Scope: Dallas County, Texas only

Background: Established in 1978 by Dallas-area Chi Omega alumnae, the Chi Omega Christmas Market has become a beloved holiday tradition. Since inception 46 years ago (as of 2024), the organization has donated over $10.4 million to more than 146 worthy Dallas-area beneficiaries.

Focus Areas: Organizations must address needs in one or more of the following areas:

• Arts
• Civic
• Education
• Health
• Welfare

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for Chi Omega Christmas Market grant funding, organizations MUST:

• Have a minimum request of $50,000
• Be tax-exempt for a minimum of three (3) years under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
• Be headquartered and provide services within Dallas County
• Not have received funds from COCM in 2023, 2024, or 2025 (eligible to apply 3 years after receiving previous funds)
• Consideration will be given for endowment requests

What Chi Omega Does NOT Fund

• Organizations not operating within Dallas County
• Community services delivered outside of Dallas County
• Chapters of national organizations receiving financial support from their national office
• For-profit organizations
• Major building/capital campaigns (although program-specific capital requests may receive grants)
• Conferences or benefits
• Individuals, for any purpose
• Projects that promote religious or political doctrine
• Research (medical or otherwise)
• Operating deficits/retirement of existing debt

Chi Omega Christmas Market Grant Application Process

Important Note: Chi Omega Christmas Market accepts Full Grant Applications BY INVITATION ONLY.

Application Steps

1. Submit Letter of Inquiry (LOI)
   • Submit a Letter of Inquiry to be evaluated by Chi Omega Christmas Market membership
   • LOI evaluates whether the organization's mission and proposed project fit within eligibility guidelines
   • Factors evaluated include: proposed project's feasibility and sustainability, and the organization's ability to plan, implement, evaluate and sustain the project
2. Await LOI Evaluation Results
   • Chi Omega Christmas Market membership reviews the LOI
   • Organization will be notified if invited to submit a full proposal
3. Submit Full Grant Application (By Invitation Only)
   • Only organizations invited after successful LOI evaluation may submit full proposals
   • Grants are awarded based on a vote of the Chi Omega Christmas Market membership after prospective grant recipients have successfully completed each step of the grant process
