Our grant program seeks to fund innovative, holistic programs that promote the mental well-being of families in underserved and under-resourced communities. Our Funding Priorities At Charlie’s Heart Foundation, we believe that strong and healthy families → lead to strong and healthy children→ which leads to strong and healthy communities. Our grant program seeks to fund innovative, holistic programs that promote the mental well-being of families in underserved and under-resourced communities. We believe that by addressing the mental and emotional well-being of family members, specifically parents and caregivers, we will give these families the strong foundation that they need not only to survive but to thrive. Types of Grants Considered Charlie’s Heart Foundation seeks to fund specific program expenses. However, operating expenses may be considered when directly related to program staffing and overhead. Charlie’s Heart Foundation typically considers annual grants between $5,000-$15,000 for first-time applicants and up to $30,000 for returning applicants.

Consideration can be given to organizations supporting humanitarian efforts outside the continental United States as long as the organization is headquartered within North Carolina.This allows us to conduct in-person check-ins, participate in events, and build stronger relationships with our grant partners. The Charlie’s Heart Foundation will award grants only to organizations qualified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.Grant award decisions are contingent upon the availability of Foundation funds and will be based on various organizational and programmatic factors, including:Organization mission aligns with Charlie’s Heart Foundation’s missionDemonstration of needAdequate staffing, funding, and operational structure to carry out the purposes of the grantEmpowering those served by involving them whenever possible in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the programContribution to systemic changeDemonstration of program sustainability over timeAcceptable cost versus benefit comparisons, i.e., reasonable numbers served and depth of impact for the investmentClearly defined and measurable program outcomes that demonstrate impact on the population to be servedCompleteness of the application, including the submission of a current program budget

The Charlies’ Heart Foundation does not award grants to individuals, private foundations or churches, nor does it award grants to organizations to be used as pass-through funds for another organization that is not a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization or a governmental entity.The Charlie’s Heart Foundation does not award grants to:individuals, affiliate organizations, private foundations, churches, private schools, units of government, endowment funds, or political activities.
