Chapter Designated Funds

Overview: The AKPsi Foundation collects tax-deductible contributions and places them in chapter-specific endowments. Interest income from these endowments is annually returned to each chapter in the form of Chapter Designated Fund awards.

Focus Areas:

  • Educational purposes (IRS requirement)

  • Chapter-specific scholarships and educational programming
  • Eligibility:

  • Any Alpha Kappa Psi chapter can create an endowment

  • Chapters must approve the fund

  • Fund agreement must be signed by chapter president and Foundation

  • Minimum "kick-off" contribution of $250 or more required
  • Use of Funds:

  • Educational purposes only (tax requirement)

  • Awards to one or more chapter members

  • Offset registration fees for Principled Business Leadership Institute or College of Leadership
  • Funding Structure:

  • Endowment must reach/exceed $10,000 to be officially endowed

  • Interest income calculated at 4% of endowment balance at beginning of academic year

  • Awards distributed annually after official endowment status
  • Who Can Contribute:

  • Chapter members

  • Alumni and friends of the chapter

  • Individual contributors receive IRS tax deduction (unlike direct chapter gifts)
  • Geographic Scope: All Alpha Kappa Psi chapters
