CGF: Youth In Philanthropy Grant

The Youth in Philanthropy Grant, offered by the Community Giving Foundation, empowers over 225 high school students from various schools to act as grantmakers, allocating up to $5,000 for youth-related projects. This program fosters philanthropic values and community engagement, encouraging students to assess needs and review grant applications. By participating, students gain valuable insights into the importance of giving back and contribute to shaping the future of their communities.

Community Giving Foundation's Youth in Philanthropy program provides high school students across the region an opportunity to learn about philanthropy and participate in the grantmaking process. Focused on the meaning of giving and the importance of getting involved, students gain experience in teamwork, assessment of community needs, building consensus, nonprofit finance and the local nonprofit world.
High school students from a record 20 school districts and groups are serving as youth grantmakers through the Community Giving Foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy program. This year marks the 22nd year of the program, bringing more than 250 students together to create visible impact in their schools and communities.
Youth in Philanthropy empowers students across the region to take a hands-on approach to community giving as they learn about philanthropic values and principles while developing leadership skills. Throughout the school year, students develop a set of funding priorities determined through needs assessment surveys conducted in their schools and communities. Each school group uses the information collected to review grant applications, awarding up to $5,000 to support youth-related programs.

Youth in Philanthropy is a regional program of the Community Giving Foundaiton. Grants available through each school may be defined by the school district footprint or by the funding source.
