Our History

In 1999, five area trust companies and community partners created The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley as a 501(c)(3) public charity to address charitable and philanthropic needs across Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.

Our Mission

To serve as a leader and advocate for strategic philanthropy, partnering with donors to anchor a permanent and growing endowment and making investments in the Mahoning Valley that improve the quality of life for all residents.

Emergency Grants

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley (CFMV) has emergency grant opportunities for eligible not-for-profits with urgent funding needs due to unforeseen events that have or will significantly interrupt essential services that are vital to the immediate health, safety, and/or wellbeing of Mahoning Valley residents.

Grants typically do not exceed $5,000.

* If you’re not registered with the IRS, you may apply through a fiscal sponsor.

Ineligibility

* We will not consider debt reduction or operating budget shortfalls as emergency situations.
