Overview

The Columbus Foundation In 1943, during the darkness of World War II, a group of passionate citizens, led by Columbus businessman Harrison M. Sayre, envisioned a way to improve the well-being of the community and the quality of life in central Ohio. With little more than this sound idea and faith, The Columbus Foundation was established. Our Mission To assist donors and others in strengthening and improving our community for the benefit of all its residents. Carol Strip Whitney Scholarship The Carol Strip Whitney Scholarship represents a life of passion, as she has taught gifted children for 45 years. Dr. Carol believes in the abilities of gifted children to make this world a better place. These children will be our leaders, our researchers, our inventors. It is her belief that an investment in their futures can only serve to awaken the important aspects of learning for the world of tomorrow. Applicants to the scholarship intend to be among the leaders of the next generation.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Candidates must be graduating high school seniors with a minimum 3.75 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale, 4.0 GPA on a 5.0 scale, or high school graduates with a 3.0 GPA in college. Candidates must be residents of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, or Ohio. Candidates must participate in extracurricular activities. Candidates must be considered gifted, as denoted by the parent ID letter from their school district. Students who are homeschooled or from districts that do not issue letters may submit documentation indicating an IQ of 130 or above from a licensed psychologist. Candidates must demonstrate high moral character in his or her daily life. Candidates must attend or plan to attend an educational institution in the U.S.
