Overview

The Career Development Grant for Postdoctoral Women awards up to $2,000 to 5-8 eligible postdoctoral women for travel to meetings, laboratory visits, or courses to enhance their research and leadership skills. This grant, offered by the American Society for Microbiology, aims to support women with significant scientific achievements in their professional development while encouraging ongoing engagement with ASM.

The Career Development Grant for Postdoctoral Women provides up to $2,000 to 5-8 postdoctoral women to travel to a meeting, visit another laboratory or take a course or event to hone their research and/or leadership skills. The grant will be awarded to enhance the careers of postdoctoral women with outstanding scientific accomplishments.
Responsibilities & Expectations
As an awardee of this grant, we would like you to be actively engaged with ASM as you continue your career in microbial sciences. We request that you submit any ASM engagement activities to us annually for the next 5 years from the time of receiving the award.
You may be invited to contribute to these following activities:
Participate as a speaker/moderator in ASM's virtual career panels, Career Pathways in Microbiology.Review future Career Development Grant for Postdoctoral Women applications.Write Career and Professional Development articles for asm.org.

Eligibility

For the Career Development Grant for Postdoctoral Women, the eligibility requirements are as follows:Identify as a woman scientist.Hold a doctoral degree.Have no more than 5 years of cumulative postdoctoral experience.Perform postdoctoral work in microbiology at a U.S institution.Be an ASM postdoc member.The cash award must be used within the same year of receiving the award, from March 15–Dec. 31, 2026.
