Overview

CARE Together Fund

Overview: Originally created as the COVID-19 Response Fund in March 2020. Renamed the CARE Together Fund to focus on equitable community recovery. CARE stands for "Communities Aligned around Racial Equity."

Status: Active. To date, over $1.52 million has been distributed to 132 organizations in South King County. Not currently accepting requests; will reopen in late 2025.

Geographic Scope: South King County

Focus Areas:

  • Basic needs (primary focus)

  • Food insecurity

  • Rental assistance

  • Diapers and personal protective equipment

  • Mental health and domestic violence support

  • Housing

  • Support for communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic
  • Priority: Black and Brown led and serving organizations in South King County with budgets under $1 million.

    Award Amount: Up to $5,000 per grant

    Eligibility:

  • Organizations serving BIPOC, refugee, and immigrant communities

  • BIPOC-led and serving organizations

  • Organizations with budgets under $1 million (preferred)

  • Addressing food security, housing, and mental health

  • Trusted by and embedded in communities most impacted by pandemic

    Application Process

    Current Status: Not accepting requests at this time. Process will reopen in late 2025.

    How Grants Are Made:

  • No formal application process currently in place

  • A committee made up of representatives from community organizations works with RRCF's Executive Director

  • The committee identifies the greatest community needs as they emerge

  • Grants are identified based on rapid assessment of community needs
  • Nominating Your Organization:
    1. Contact the foundation
    2. Put your group's name in front of the committee
    3. Committee will identify organizations for grants

    If applying when process reopens in late 2025:

  • Contact RRCF for application details

  • Be prepared to demonstrate service to BIPOC, refugee, or immigrant communities

  • Show budget information (preferred budget under $1 million)

  • Document work in food security, housing, or mental health
