Cancer Services Grants

Salem Health Foundation supports various cancer-related programs and services through targeted grants.

Programs Funded (2023-2024):

• Community Breast Cancer Screening: Annual breast imaging services including mammograms for women over 40 unable to afford screenings (annual household income at 250% of Federal Poverty Guidelines)
• Chemo Bags - Filled with Love: Comfort bags containing fleece blankets, journals, magazines, puzzle books, snacks, and hand sanitizer delivered to patients starting chemotherapy (average 60 bags per month)
• Mastectomy Fitter Position: Contracted mastectomy fitting services at Salem Health Cancer Center to fill service gap created when local provider closed
• Clinical Research - Augmented Reality Education for Patients in Radiation Oncology - Phase 3: Research project showing how augmented/virtual reality helps cancer patients receiving radiation oncology treatment reduce anxiety and improve satisfaction
• Oregon Specialty Group Patient Assistance for Under- & Non-Insured Cancer Patients: Partnership supporting chemotherapy treatment for under- or non-insured cancer patients, including undocumented residents
• Colorectal Cancer Screening: Partnership with Salem Free Clinics to pay lab testing fees for up to 10 patients for colorectal cancer screenings using FIT test
