Theatre Bay Area Theatre Bay Area (TBA) is a nonprofit arts service organization dedicated to strengthening and advancing the theatre community in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its mission is to unite, promote, and support theatre artists and organizations, grounded in the belief that the performing arts are essential to a healthy and democratic society. TBA envisions a vibrant, inclusive cultural ecosystem where artists have the resources and opportunities to thrive and where communities have broad access to the arts. Its funding priorities focus on supporting individual theatremakers and small theatre companies through grants that enable new work development, performances, career advancement, and organizational capacity building, with a strong emphasis on equity, diversity, and inclusion and prioritizing artists historically underrepresented in traditional funding systems. CA$H Creates The CA$H Grant Program — short for Creative Assistance for the Small (Organization) and Hungry (Artist) — provides vital financial support to individual theatre artists and small theatre companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 1999, these grants support individual artists, collaborative teams, and small companies in creating projects ranging from capacity-building initiatives to fully-produced productions. CA$H Creates is grant that supports the development of artistic projects or capacity-building projects not directly tied to a fully-produced performance of a piece. CA$H Creates supports development projects and capacity-building projects. Development projects are projects that develop material for performance. Examples include script development, workshops, staged readings, development work with a dramaturg, or a devising process.Capacity-building projects improve the applicant’s ability to create or present theatre, but aren’t tied to developing a specific production. Examples include professional development, updating your computer or lighting equipment, EDI training for your staff and board, hiring a consultant to help you start a new theatre company, or improving disability access for your space and/or website.Eligibility
