The Community Foundation of Noble County is a public charity 501 (c) 3 entity.

Black, Robert and Darlene Charitable Fund

To provide support to the Humane Society of Noble County, Inc., Kendallville Day Care Center, and Salvation Army of Noble County.

Donor Fund Story

The Blacks were very quiet and reserved. Bob started out being the office manager for a “truckateria” in Kendallville right on US HWY 6. The truckateria was actually an International Harvester dealership and maintenance facility for semis. Bob was a good businessman and soon became the owner of the facility. He then sold it in 1966. He was also an owner of CMW Transport in Kendallville and later sold that business to one of the Miller boys (David Noel Miller) which continues to operate thus far in 2012.

Judge Robert Probst recalls his many years serving with Bob Black in the Kendallville Kiwanis Club. Bob was a faithful attendee of Kiwanis and attended all their social events but other than that he was just a quiet man with a business mind. Judge Probst stated that he was a ‘very unassuming individual.’

Robert died on November 19, 1998. His wife preceded him in death. The Blacks had no children but Mr. Black still wanted to give back to the community and he did so through this fund administered by the Noble County Community Foundation.
