Billy Frank Jr. Salmon Forever Fund Scholarship

Geographic Scope: Washington State (applicants must be enrolled members of federally recognized Tribes with interests in Washington State)

  • Total Awards: Two $5,000 one-time awards (one for male applicant, one for female applicant)

  • Award Announcement Date: March 9, 2026 (Billy Frank Jr. Day)

  • Eligible Uses: Tuition, fees, books, housing, transportation, and other education-related expenses
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized Tribe with interests in Washington State

  • Must provide proof of enrollment: copies of Tribal ID and Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)

  • Must be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate/Master's student at an accredited institution

  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3

  • Must be enrolled in at least 12 credits per academic term
  • Selection Priority:
    Preference given to students who demonstrate:

  • Strong academic performance

  • Leadership experience

  • Commitment to community service and Tribal values

  • Late or incomplete applications will not be considered
  • Required Materials:
    1. Completed scholarship application (available for download from the website)
    2. Proof of tribal enrollment:
    - Copy of Tribal ID
    - Copy of Certificate Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)
    3. Academic transcripts
    4. Letter of recommendation
    5. Current class schedule
    6. Essay: 500–1000 word response to application prompts

    Application Requirements Notes:

  • All components must be submitted for application to be considered complete
