Funding Focus
The Thursday Club Foundation exclusively funds capital items for San Diego County nonprofits. Funded items must be used in San Diego County and benefit San Diego County inhabitants.- Hold Federal 501(c)(3) and State 23701d tax-exempt charitable status for at least 2 years
- Be established and operating in San Diego County for at least 2 years
- Not use a Federal 501(c)(3) from another nonprofit organization
- Have current annual operating budget not exceeding $3,000,000 (exception: organizations in Balboa Park)
- Not have received a Thursday Club grant within the last 3 calendar years
- Be requesting less than $20,000
- Be domiciled in San Diego County
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:Special Eligibility Notes:
What Will NOT Be Funded
General Operating Expenses: Rent, mortgage, dues, subscriptions, warranties, service contracts, utility costsIneligible Items: Individuals, salaries, programs, training, user licenses, separately purchased software, items for distribution, bank/investment accounts, endowments, general reserve funds, operation costs, vehicle wraps
Ineligible Projects: Capital campaigns, building or construction costs, acquisition of real estate, political purposes, religious purposes, existing obligations, deficits, debts, leases, reimbursements
- Beneficiaries must submit proof of purchase within 60 days of receipt of funds
- Grant checks made payable only to the granted nonprofit entity/organization
- Funds may only be used for items specifically approved by Thursday Club Foundation
- Any remaining funds after approved items purchased must be returned promptly
- Balance sheet and income statement with supporting documentation confirming expenditure of all funds required by December 31, 2026 (extensions considered case-by-case)
- Failure to provide proof of purchase or return funds disqualifies organization from future grant eligibility
- Misuse of funds results in forfeiture of funding rights and potential demand for repayment and future exclusion

Application Process
Application Period: June 1 to July 15 (annually)
Submission Method: Digital application via Thursday Club website
Submission Acknowledgment: Applicants should receive acknowledgment of receipt within 48 hours. If not received, contact the Director of Philanthropy.
Review & Site Visit: After review of all submitted materials, applicants who meet guidelines and provided all required items will be contacted by Thursday Club Philanthropy Committee to schedule a site visit.
Note: Applications not meeting guidelines or missing requested information/documents will not be considered.
