About the Society BCFO is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that is committed to the study, preservation, and enjoyment of British Columbia’s wild birds. Our members are birders and ornithologists, novices to experts. Research Grants BCFO encourages submission of proposals from groups or organizations for financial assistance for bird surveys and other ornithological research. It also wishes to foster greater connections between applicants and the society.

Eligibility

Requests for funding must be for planned, rather than completed projects.Applicants should be, or be willing to become, BCFO members (become a member).Requests must meet one of the following purposes of the society:Promote the study and enjoyment of wild birds in British Columbia.Disseminate knowledge and appreciation of birds to our Members and to the general public through regular publication of a journal and/or a newsletter.Foster cooperation between amateur and professional ornithologists, and to support ornithological research programs.Support natural history and conservation efforts to preserve birds and their habitats.Projects must be conducted within British Columbia.Projects and their results are to be reported in BCFO’s journal, BritishColumbia Birds, or in the newsmagazine, BC BirdingAll reasonable requests up to a $3000 limit, and within the financial strength of the organisation, will be considered. Larger requests require approval at an AGM.

Ineligibility

BCFO does not provide funds for completed projects.
