Bascom Little Fund Grant

The Bascom Little Fund Grant supports Northeast Ohio composers by funding the performance and recording of contemporary music. Established in memory of architect Bascom Little, the fund aims to promote new works through concerts and publications. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) public charities, and composers must reside in Northeast Ohio. The fund does not support the commission of new works or operating expenses. Special consideration is given to those with additional financial backing.

About Bascom Little
Bascom Little (1910-1965) was a Cleveland architect and amateur composer who studied composition with Donald Erb at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He was deeply concerned about the difficulty of modern composers getting their music performed, so when he designed his personal residence, it included a concert space for the performance of new works.
Upon his death, his wife Sue established the Bascom Little Fund. It is dedicated to supporting the work of Northeast Ohio composers for years to come. His memory lives on in each performance, recording and broadcast.

The Bascom Little Fund is a charitable trust created for the promotion of new contemporary music by Northeast Ohio composers through concerts, publications, recordings, and more.

Eligibility

Only 501(c)(3) public charities will be considered for funding. Composers and ensembles must work with partner organizations (501(c)(3) with that status. Fiscal sponsorship refers to the practice of non-profit organizations offering their legal and tax-exempt status to groups—typically projects—engaged in activities related to the sponsoring organization's mission.Composers must currently reside in the Northeast Ohio Area.

Ineligibility

The Bascom Little Fund does not fund the commission of new works.The Bascom Little Fund does not fund Operating Expenses.
