Overview

Wisconsin Department of Health Services The Department of Health Services (DHS) is one of the largest state agencies in Wisconsin, with an annual budget of roughly $15 billion and more than 6,700 employees. DHS is committed to protecting and promoting the health and safety of the people of Wisconsin, making sure everyone can live their best life. Asthma The Wisconsin Asthma Program works with trusted organizations in your community to provide services that improve asthma outcomes. Using the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) EXHALE strategy, we strive to lessen the burden of asthma for every Wisconsinite. Asthma in Action: Creating Asthma-Friendly Schools The Wisconsin Asthma Program is issuing this Request for Applications for all interested, qualified, and eligible applicants to request funding to help schools build capacity to implement one of two new asthma initiatives focused on making schools more asthma friendly. These initiatives will enhance asthma management strategies to ensure that all students who have asthma can achieve their full academic potential. The overall goal is to assist schools in implementing Stock Asthma Medication or Idle-Free Schools programming to help students with asthma stay healthy, learn better, and participate fully during the school day. Due to high county asthma burden, schools in Brown, Kenosha, Menominee, Milwaukee, Racine and Rock Counties are eligible to apply for funding for use in their affiliated K-12 schools.
