Overview

Assembly Fellowship Program

Overview: Launched in 2020, the Assembly Fellowship program serves as a window to deeper engagement with Recess and expanded creative fields, while strengthening self-determination, advocacy, and self-actualization.

Eligibility:

  • Ages 18-26

  • Must have successfully completed Assembly Peer Leadership program

  • Must exhibit passionate and deep commitment to Assembly
  • Program Details:

  • Duration: 1 full year (September through August)

  • Time Commitment: 16 hours per week of Recess-related work

  • Compensation: On Recess payroll, compensated at staff level

  • Additional Support: Snacks and metrocards provided
  • Program Philosophy:

  • Rooted in a "Purpose Path" methodology developed by Rasu Jilani

  • Defines a trajectory tailored to the narrative participants see for their future

  • Strengthens self-determination, advocacy, and self-actualization

  • Serves as a springboard toward personal definition of success and stability
  • Opportunities & Elements:

  • Access to all Assembly electives

  • Self-designed schedule with onsite and offsite partnerships

  • Open studio time to advance creative practice

  • Community safety workshops and advocacy campaigns

  • Portfolio development

  • Collective resourcing

  • Arthandling experience

  • Co-created projects with Session artists

  • Ongoing leadership opportunities across Assembly

  • Session x Assembly collaborations

  • Weekly Collective Resourcing for community care and healing

    2. Selection: Select Peer Leaders with demonstrated passionate and deep commitment to Assembly are invited to transition into the fellowship
