Overview

The Asheville Young Woman Leadership Award, founded by Asheville pediatrician Andrea Gravatt, is funded by many women in Buncombe County with a desire to recognize and encourage young women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and made significant contributions to their school and community. On both a local and national level, women have made our world a better place through their leadership. Often this leadership ability is due to the support and encouragement of others – particularly other women. The purpose of this award, which will be offered annually to young women who are juniors in high school, is to recognize the recipient's outstanding accomplishments and to encourage future leadership and contributions to her school and community.

Eligibility

High school junior women who reside in Buncombe County and attend a public or private high school in Buncombe County, the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, or the North Carolina School of the Arts are eligible to apply.The recipient may apply the funds to any accredited post-high school educational program or to an approved enrichment program.
