ASB Research Award (Professional) Grant

The ASB Research Award (Professional), offered by the Association of Southeastern Biologists, honors outstanding research by professional members (not students) with a $1000 grant. Applicants must be the primary author of a manuscript published after the last ASB annual meeting and must present their findings at the upcoming annual meeting. The awardee is recognized at the Closing Banquet, emphasizing the importance of attendance. This initiative promotes scientific advancement and networking among biology professionals.

Association of Southeastern Biologists
The Association of Southeastern Biologists (ASB) held its first meeting in Athens, GA, in 1937, and has met every year since with the exception of 1943, 1944, and 1945 due to WWII and 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our purpose is to promote the advancement of biology as a science by encouraging research, the imparting of knowledge, the application of knowledge to the solution of biological problems, and the preservation of biological resources. We promote research and education in the biological sciences by providing a student friendly, networking environment through our annual meetings.
Research Award ($1000)
Presented to an ASB professional member (students are not eligible for this award) for outstanding research. A written manuscript or publication and an oral presentation at the annual meeting are required. The manuscript must be completed after the previous ASB annual meeting, but not prior. The presentation must be given at either the previous or upcoming annual meeting.

Eligibility

Each applicant must fulfill all the requirements listed below:Applicant must NOT be a graduate or undergraduate student at the time of presentationThe applicant must be the primary or senior author on a manuscript published after the previous ASB annual meeting, but not prior. ​Applicant must be a current member of the ASBApplicant must present the research at the Annual MeetingApplication must be submitted prior to the deadlineApplications can be submitted prior to receiving an abstract acceptance letterThe winner of this award receives a plaque at the Closing Banquet, so your presence is greatly appreciated.
