Overview

Art for Awareness Grants

Purpose: Fund projects that use arts-based activities to prevent or create awareness of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) or addiction in Marion County.

Funding Source: City of Indianapolis and Opioid Settlement Funds

Geographic Scope: Marion County, Indiana

Award Amount: $5,000 - $65,000 with no match requirement

Eligible Applicants:

  • Nonprofits (501(c)(3) status)

  • Individual artists
  • Eligible Artists:

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Able to provide Social Security Number (SSN), Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), or A-Number/USCIS Number

  • Resident of and/or work predominantly in Marion County
  • Eligible Organizations:

  • Have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status

  • Indianapolis-based and physically headquartered in Marion County

  • Must include artist(s) in their program or project and provide them with equitable fees

  • All programming and projects must take place in Marion County
  • Project Requirements:

  • Required collaboration between artists and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) subject matter experts

  • Strong proposals include evidence-based techniques
  • Priority Areas:

  • Youth-oriented programs

  • Programs that center racial equity

    4. Panel review: Applications reviewed by panel
    5. Award notification: Applicants notified of decisions by email
    6. Project timeline: Projects should be completed by end of 2025

    • Evidence of artistic practice (digital images, video/audio files, examples of professional work from past two years)
    • Resume or alternative (bio with dates marking career as artist or arts administrator)
    • Webpage and/or social media pages showing background in arts & cultural sector
    • Collaboration documentation with SUD expert
