Overview

AO North America CMF Fellowships The one-year award, based on a 12-month academic year, is intended to provide funding to an institution to support its post-graduate fellowship program including such direct costs as stipends and benefits, fellows research expenses, and education expenses. The award is for 1 year based on a 12-month academic year from July 1 to June 30. Selected programs will provide consistent and periodic reporting of the fellow’s performance during the period of training to verify that they have demonstrated sufficient professional ability to practice competently and independently. Fellows must attend one Management of Facial Trauma Course and one Advanced Course offered by AO North America during the fellowship year. Additionally, fellows must submit an article to Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Reconstruction (the AO CMF journal) during the fellowship year. This fellowship grant is intended to provide funding to an institution’s fellowship program to support one fellow in his or her post-graduate fellowship program. Support is limited to direct costs, such as salary, benefits, and educational expenses. The grant may not be used for indirect costs. A limited number of Fellowship Awards are available. The number of awards granted will be determined based on the allocation of funds determined by the AO CMF North America Board of Directors. The amount of funding between $8,000 to $25k will be awarded per award. Lesser amounts may be awarded at the discretion of the AO CMF NA Board.

The open and broad call for fellowship applications is available to fellowship programs in all fields of craniomaxillofacial surgery.The fellow’s training shall be spent in a clinical setting under the direction of the clinical faculty of the institution. This period of time must provide the fellows with an organized, comprehensive, supervised, full-time educational experience in the field of craniomaxillofacial surgery, including the management of patients, the performance of surgical procedures and the integration of surgical therapies and diagnostic modalities into the clinical management of the patient.Applicants for the fellowship position will be chosen solely by the institution. The Fellowship Program Director and teaching staff are responsible for the general administration of the program, including activities related to the recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, counseling, evaluation/advancement of fellows.The fellowship award is inclusive of all the fellows in the selected institution’s fellowship program.
