United Way of Gloucester County provides annual grant funding to eligible nonprofit organizations serving Gloucester County residents. Agencies may apply for multiple grant programs, with separate applications required for each program request.

    • Valid Board of Directors roster with required signatures

    • Recent audit or IRS 990 form

    Grant Application Process

    Step-by-Step Application:

    1. Review Strategic Plan - Review the STRATEGIC PLAN with four impact areas and examples before applying

    2. Review Sample Funding Contract - New agencies should read the SAMPLE FUNDING CONTRACT to understand expectations

    3. Complete Application Form - A multi-section application form is required

    4. Agency Information Section
    - Agency Name
    - Tax ID# and 501(c)(3) status
    - Agency Address
    - Phone Number
    - Main Contact Person Name and Email
    - Agency Budget (current fiscal year)
    - Short narrative about your agency (150 words or less recommended)

    5. Required Documentation
    - IRS 501(c)(3) Letter - Upload current IRS letter (mandatory for review)
    - Board of Directors Roster - Current roster with two signatures: one from preparer and one from board officer/member
    - Local Advisory Board Documentation - Required only if agency's Board of Directors are regionally based rather than Gloucester County-specific; must include two signatures
    - Audit or IRS 990 - Upload most recent audit (if required for your agency) or IRS Form 990

    6. Grant Program Section (complete separately for each program)
    - Grant Program Name
    - Program Site Address
    - Program Description
    - Indicate if this is a new program or did not receive UW funding last year
    - Total Grant Program Budget (numeric only, no dollar sign)
    - Total United Way Request Amount (numeric only, no dollar sign)
    - Detailed budget breakdown with dollar amounts and descriptions for:
    * Supplies
    * Curriculum
    * Educational Materials
    * Operating costs
    * Personnel
    * Training
    * Other (specify)
    - Select ONE impact area and priority area from provided list

    7. Community Impact Section
    - Indicate Grant Activities (action steps within program that help achieve goals)
    - Indicate Grant Outputs (direct result of program activities)
    - Indicate Grant Outcomes (how program changed participants' skills, knowledge, behavior, attitude or condition)
    - Indicate Grant Indicators & Data Source (number or percent of participants demonstrating outcomes)
    - Total Served in Program (numeric only)
    - Total Served by United Way Funding (numeric only)

    8. Success Story Section
    - Include one client success story from past 12 months
    - Client Name
    - Services Provided
    - Permission for UW to use story for marketing
    - Option to keep client anonymous
    - Upload candid photograph (if permission provided)

    9. Board Approval Section
    - Name of Preparer
    - Phone Number of Preparer
    - Email Address of Preparer
    - Name of Board/Officer who can verify/certify application
    - Phone Number of Board/Officer
    - Email Address of Board/Officer
    - Board certification that application fairly and accurately represents program needs
    - Acknowledgment that agency will abide by all United Way policies if funded

      File Submission Requirements

    • Accepted file types: gif, jpg, jpeg, pict, txt, rtf, pdf, doc, xls
    • Maximum file size: 8 MB per file
    • Maximum 5 documents per section
    • Total maximum file size per upload: 256 MB

      Important Notes

    • A separate application must be completed for each grant program requested
    • Agencies may apply for multiple grant programs in different or same impact areas
    • IRS 501(c)(3) letter is mandatory for grant review
    • Board certifications must include signatures from both preparer and board officer/member
