Geographic Scope: Truckee-North Tahoe region, including Old Greenwood, Gray's Crossing, the Village at Northstar, and Mountainside communities

Focus Areas:

• Environmental programs
• Educational programs
• Cultural programs
• Social programs
• Youth programs (special focus)

Eligibility:

• 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations only
• Must have proven longevity and viability
• Must demonstrate greater good and social, economic, and environmental benefits to the community

What They Don't Fund:

• Individuals
• Political organizations

Background:
In 2025, over $500,000 in grants were awarded to over 30 Tahoe-Truckee area non-profit organizations and programs. Since 2003, TMRF has awarded $12,145,000 in grants and scholarships.

Recent Recipients Include:
Achieve Tahoe, Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe, Clean Up Lake Tahoe, Fine Arts North Tahoe, Headwaters Science Institute, Sierra Community House, Sierra Senior Services, Tahoe Food Hub, Tahoe Institute for Natural Science, Truckee River Watershed Council, and many others.

Timeline:

• Applications due annually in the fall
• Grant decisions made by the first of the year
• Funds paid in the first quarter of the year

Application Process

Status: 2026 grant cycle applications are now closed. Information about the 2027 grant cycle, including updated deadlines and application details, will be posted when available.

How to Apply:

1. Submit application during the fall deadline period
2. Applications are reviewed by the Grants Committee
3. Applicants are notified directly regarding funding decisions

Required Information:

• Organization must be a 501(c)(3) non-profit
• Grant request should be based on organizational needs
• Demonstrate proven longevity and viability
• Show greater good and overall social, economic, and environmental benefits to the community
