Overview
ALEC Bright Future Scholarship
Overview: ALEC is awarding $20,000 in college scholarships through the ALEC Bright Future Scholarship Program, designed to support the academic dreams of young ALEC members while reducing the financial burden for them and their families.
Award Structure: ALEC will give individual, non-renewable scholarships to seven deserving applicants:
- ALEC members aged 17-24
- Minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- High school seniors, high school graduates not currently enrolled in college, or college undergraduates
- Must plan to attend or currently attend an accredited two- or four-year college or vocational school for the full 2026-2027 academic year
Eligibility Requirements
- Available to ALEC members in IL, US (Abbott Laboratories Employees Credit Union)
Geographic Scope
- Applications accepted starting March 2nd
- Deadline for submission: May 4th (annually)
- Scholarship winners selected in June and announced in July

If you're not already an ALEC member, join first. All you need is $5 to open a share account to get started.
Step 2: Complete Your Scholarship Application
Click the application button to apply online via Scholarship America. You will be directed to the application website to get started.
Step 3: Submit Your Documents
Have your transcripts and letters of recommendation sent in by your school and endorsers.
