Summary
The Affordable Solar and Storage Predevelopment and Technical Assistance program, offered by NYSERDA, aims to enhance solar access for low-to-moderate income households in New York. With grants totaling $3,600,000, it addresses barriers to solar installations in rental and multifamily housing. Projects can receive up to $200,000 to support predevelopment efforts, ensuring equitable solar development and meaningful benefits for underserved communities.Overview
NYSERDA offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, use renewable energy, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. A public benefit corporation, NYSERDA has been advancing energy solutions and working to protect the environment since 1975. Affordable Solar and Storage Predevelopment and Technical Assistance will provide grants up to a total of $3,600,000 to address barriers to solar installations serving low-to-moderate income (LMI) households living in rental housing, multifamily buildings, or other households not served by traditional onsite residential solar. Approved projects funded through this solicitation will receive contract awards up to $200,000, and the award will be based upon the scope of the proposed project. Funding will offset costs for predevelopment and technical assistance work needed to implement solar installations for multifamily affordable housing and/or shared solar (Community Distributed Generation) installations that benefit LMI households. This program will provide funding for the development of solar and/or storage projects that offer meaningful benefits to LMI customers and affordable housing providers, and demonstrate viable models for equitable solar and/or storage development. Target projects participating in the program will lead to: • The implementation and operation of solar and/or storage installations for affordable housing; or • The implementation and operation of community solar installations that will offer benefits to LMI households and/or affordable housing.Eligibility
