Summary
The Energy Storage Technology and Product Development Grant Program, offered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), aims to foster innovation in long-duration energy storage solutions. With up to $10.85 million available, the program supports technologies that enhance energy storage efficiency and reduce costs while providing significant public benefits. Eligible solutions must capture and store energy from various sources and return it to the grid or project sites, promoting renewable energy use and sustainability.Overview
New York State Energy Research and Development Authority The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, use renewable energy, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. A public benefit corporation, NYSERDA has been advancing energy solutions and working to protect the environment since 1975. Energy Storage Technology and Product Development Grant Program NYSERDA seeks to stimulate and grow innovation portfolios in New York State focusing on long duration energy storage solutions in electrical, mechanical, chemical, and thermal-electric energy storage and advanced, next-generation battery solutions of all durations. NYSERDA is doing so by making up to $10.85 million in funds available via Program Opportunity Notice (PON) 5984. This funding is to support innovative and under-utilized energy storage solutions, devices, software, controls, and other complementary technologies that decrease energy storage total hardware and installation costs, improve performance, and demonstrate integration with the power grid. Submissions must demonstrate significant statewide public benefits and quantify all energy, environmental, and/or economic impacts. Eligible storage solutions must enable the capture of electrical or thermal energy (from the grid, thermal generation project site, or directly from renewables) store that energy, and then return electricity back to the grid or to a project site.Eligibility
