Overview

Affiliate Faculty Research Program (Faculty) The Arkansas Space Grant Consortium (ASGC), a participant in the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program (NSGCFP) is accepting proposals for the Affiliate Faculty Research Program. ASGC is dedicated to educating and familiarizing faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students with aerospace and related industries. The ASGC Affiliate Faculty Research Award Program supports aerospace and science-related research that encourages collaborations and engages researchers to better guide students in pursuit of STEM careers. Award period of performance is 5/15/2025 - 5/14/2026 Arkansas Space Grant’s efforts align with the goals and objectives of NASA's Strategy for STEM Engagement 2020-2023. The goal of this award is to provide a mutually beneficial opportunity that promotes progress toward a faculty member’s research while addressing NASA’s top research priorities and areas of emphasis to advance the agency’s mission. The Affiliate Faculty Research Award Program should simultaneously provide a unique, experimental learning opportunity for students to engage in faculty research.

FACULTYResearch proposals from Principal Investigators (PI) who are US citizens may include direct support funds (e.g. salary, travel etc.). Principal Investigators who are non-US citizens may be selected for funding (based on reviews) provided that NO salary, stipend, travel, or any other form of direct support is proposed. Non-US citizens may receive support from their universities, but these funds are not allowed to be used as cost share towards the award.STUDENTS Students funded under this program must be US citizens - no exceptions are allowed. Permanent residents are not considered as US citizens for the purposes of this program. Pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field. Enrolled as a full-time student at an ASGC member affiliate. In good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Ineligibility

Funds may not be used to fund research carried out by non-U.S. institutions. U.S. research award recipients may, however, directly purchase supplies and/or services that do not constitute research from non-U.S. sources.Funding cannot be used to purchase general-purpose equipment, e.g. desktop workstations/laptops, office furnishings, reproduction and printing equipment, etc. as a direct charge regardless of cost. Special purpose equipment purchases (i.e., equipment that is used only for research, scientific, and technical activities directly related to the proposed research activities under $10,000) are allowed.The construction of facilities is not an allowable cost. Facilities and Administrative (F&A/in-direct) costs are not allowed. Unrecovered F&A costs may be used for required cost-share. The detailed budget must include a description of the required $1:$1 non-federal cost share requirement.
