Overview

Adopt a Mile Program

Funder: Atlanta Track Club

Purpose: Fund local health and fitness nonprofits through participation in the Adopt a Mile program, held in conjunction with the Atlanta 10 Miler.

Geographic Scope: Metro Atlanta area

Focus Areas:

  • Health and fitness nonprofits

  • Organizations serving youth

  • Running and walking programs
  • Award Structure:

  • Base Donation: $1,000 for organizations meeting minimum requirements

  • Bonus Donations: Up to $5,000 can be earned through bonus points system

  • Additional Prize: $500 for "Best of the Best" voted by event participants
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a local nonprofit organization

  • Must demonstrate work to improve health and fitness in the community through running and walking

  • Must be able to provide a minimum of 30 people on race day for course support, cheer zones, and entertainment

  • Special emphasis on organizations serving youth
  • Evaluation Criteria:
    Bonus points awarded based on:

  • Number of volunteers

  • Number of participants in the Atlanta 10 Miler or 5K

  • Creativity of the cheer zone

  • Level of enthusiasm

  • Cleanup efforts

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Deadline: Friday, August 22 (annual)
    2. Submission: Apply through atlantatrackclub.org under "Atlanta 10 Miler & 5K"
    3. Notification: Selected organizations notified by Friday, August 29
    4. Race Day Requirements:
    - Minimum 15 volunteers to assist at water stops
    - Minimum 15 spectators and cheerleaders in each cheer zone
    - Minimum 30 total people on race day
    5. Bonus Points Evaluation: Organizations meeting minimum requirements receive base $1,000 donation and are evaluated for bonus points based on volunteer numbers, participant participation, cheer zone creativity, enthusiasm level, and cleanup efforts
    6. Post-Event Recognition: Participant voting for "Best of the Best" award of $500
