The Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP; Division 2 of the American Psychological Association) announces its awards program for outstanding teachers of psychology. Consistent with our Mission Statement and the Statement on Addressing Systemic Racism and Inequity in STP, we encourage applications from colleagues who are from underrepresented groups and have diverse backgrounds and experiences. Teaching awards of $1500 and a plaque are bestowed for outstanding performance in six categories, including the Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. The Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award is intended to recognize sustained excellence in teaching psychology by individuals who are adjunct faculty at academic institutions. The award is based on the following four criteria: (1) effective teaching; (2) stimulation of student interest/advancement in psychology; (3) demonstrated commitment to student learning and intellectual growth; and (4) advancement of one’s professional identity as a teacher of psychology. Each criterion is accompanied by suggestions for supporting evidence. Applicants must submit supporting materials for each category but will not be expected to have achieved recognition in all criteria. More information on supportive evidence for these criteria can be found here.Eligibility
