Making Research Possible
The AAPG Foundation Grants-in-Aid provides financial assistance to graduate students (currently enrolled in Masters or Ph.D. programs) whose thesis research has application to the search for and development of petroleum and energy-mineral resources, and/or to related environmental geology issues. Grants are based on merit and, in part, on the financial needs of the applicant.
Grants-in-Aid
The Foundation awards grants ranging from $500 to $3,000 to cover expenses directly related to the student's thesis work, such as field work, laboratory analyses, etc.

* Grants range from $500 to $3,000 and are to be applied to expenses directly related to the student's thesis work, such as field work, laboratory analyses, etc.
* Graduate level students whose thesis research has application to the search for and development of petroleum and energy-mineral resources, and/or to related environmental geology issues, are eligible to apply for the Grants-in-Aid program.
* Two endorsements are required for your application to be considered.
* Award recipients must be enrolled in a Masters or Ph.D. program or the equivalent.
* Students are eligible for a grant twice in their graduate studies.
* (Masters and Ph.D. studies combined).
* Non-U.S. Applicants
* Eligibility Requirements:
* The AAPG Foundation must adhere to sanctions and regulations as set forth by the U.S. Department of Treasury.
* If you are a Non-U.S. student and are unsure as to whether sanctions have been placed on your country of residence, please review the list of sanctioned countries to determine if you are eligible for a Grants-in-Aid award at this time.
Ineligibility
* Funds are not to be used for capital equipment, software, conferences, salaries, tuition, room and board during the school year.
* Four-year degrees or B.S. with honors are not eligible for grants
