MGWA Foundation The Minnesota Ground Water Association Foundation (MGWAF) was formed by the Minnesota Ground Water Association (MGWA) to assist the MGWA in its mission to educate the general public regarding ground water resources. The MGWAF administers the funds set aside by the MGWA Board for education activities as well as generating additional funds and exploring funding opportunities. The MGWA Foundation provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students and awards to students attending Hydrogeology Field Camps. University groups can apply for grants to cover costs for groundwater-related field trips. Funds have also been used to provide assistance for educational projects such as Children’s Water Festivals and other events held by Watershed Districts. The MGWA Foundation funded the well and groundwater exhibit in the Science Museum of Minnesota’s Big Back Yard. Hans-Olaf Pfannkuch & E. Calvin Alexander, Jr. Hydrogeology Field Camp Award The Board of the MGWA Foundation provides this Hans-Olaf Pfannkuch & E. Calvin Alexander Jr. Hydrogeology Field Camp Award to alleviate a portion of the educational costs of qualified students to attend a hydrogeology field camp, with the goal of creating stronger professionals in the fields of hydrogeology, groundwater geology, and related programs. For the summer of 2025 two $1,500 awards are being offered. The Pfannkuch-Alexander Award is designed to bring students with strong, broad life skills to a hydrogeology field camp experience. It is expected that these life experiences will be shared with other students to promote a more diverse field camp experience and help build a stronger hydrogeology community.Eligibility
You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing in hydrogeology, groundwater hydrology or similar program at an accredited college or university or are a recent graduate. Earning a minimum of a 2.4 GPA or equivalent. Plan on attending a hydrolgeology or hydrology field camp conducted in Minnesota or an adjoining state or province including North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ontario, or Manitoba.Focus Areas & Funding Uses
