    Background:
    Cancer is one of the top five leading causes of death in rural America, and rural residents have higher cancer death rates than urban residents. The Foundation invites applications focused on cancer prevention and early detection in rural communities from organizations located in the communities they serve.

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant Location: Must be located in rural communities

  • Organizational Budget: Annual operating budgets between $1 million and $8 million

  • Focus: Must focus on community impact and address specific needs and barriers for cancer prevention and early detection in rural areas

  • Organization Type: Must be based in the rural communities served
  • Award Information:

  • Amount: $50,000 per year for two years (total $100,000)

  • Duration: Two years

  • Project Start Date: January 15, 2027

  • Number of Awards: Multiple grants awarded annually

    Since 2007, the Prevent Cancer Foundation has awarded over 130 grants to outstanding projects in 38 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and American Samoa and to the Washoe Tribe.
