2026 Research Request for Proposals (RFP)

Funder: International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Foundation (IWMF) in partnership with Blood Cancer United (formerly Leukemia & Lymphoma Society)

Focus Area: Research and clinical studies that will deliver therapeutic benefits for WM patients within the next 3-5 years. Emphasis on:

  • Translational research initiatives that elucidate the molecular basis and pathogenesis of WM

  • Innovative clinical-enabling studies poised to significantly improve clinical outcomes

  • Research approaches addressing complete response and relapse resistance
  • Award Amount: $250,000 - $1,000,000 over 2-4 years, with separate awards supporting young investigators

    Current Status: IWMF is currently funding 32 premier academic research labs worldwide

    Strategic Focus: IWMF has developed an updated 2026 Strategic Research Agenda to advance:

  • Innovative discoveries

  • Novel clinical trials

  • Collaborations to revolutionize treatments for WM
  • Research Priorities: Complete responses in WM remain very rare, and even with novel combination therapies, recurrent disease relapses are expected. IWMF is committed to identifying new insights, approaches, and therapeutics to ultimately achieve a WM cure.
