2026 Community Small Grants

Funder: Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods (NECN) in partnership with the Office of Civic and Community Life

Program History: Since 2006, NECN and the Office of Civic and Community Life have partnered to provide grants to neighborhood and community organizations working to make North and Northeast Portland a stronger, more inclusive community.

Geographic Scope: Inner North/Northeast Portland

Award Amount: $2,000 - $4,000 per grant

Application Period: Opens February 17, 2026; Closes April 17, 2026

What We Look For

Funding is awarded based on a project's potential to:

  • Involve and benefit a diverse group of people
  • Build leadership skills, relationships and partnerships, especially with and among underrepresented groups
  • Increase community capacity to influence public decisions and shape the future of Inner North/Northeast Portland
  • Create unique projects with the potential to make an impact in communities large and small

Eligibility

  • Neighborhood and community organizations
  • Projects serving North and Northeast Portland communities

Support Available

  • Virtual Grant Info Sessions: Free workshops held on March 18, 2026 and April 6, 2026 from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM via Zoom
  • One-on-one consultations: Available by contacting the Small Grants Program Manager

1. Attend a free Virtual Grant Info Session (recommended but optional):
- March 18, 2026, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
- April 6, 2026, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
- Sessions available via Zoom

2. Schedule a one-on-one information session if needed by contacting grants@necoalition.org

3. Submit application online (begin application link provided on website)

  • All applicants are encouraged to attend grant application orientations in March or schedule individual consultations
  • Application materials and guidance documents should be reviewed before starting the application
