The MD Anderson Foundation is a private grantmaking foundation based in Houston, Texas. Established in the late 1930s by Monroe Dunaway Anderson, co-founder of Anderson, Clayton & Co., the foundation was formally granted charitable status in October 2002. The current foundation was established in 2003 as a successor to the original foundation. Over its lifetime, the foundation has distributed more than $276 million in grants, with $81 million directed to Texas Medical Center institutions and $63 million to other educational institutions.
