Mission & Focus Areas
Mission: Drive research, expand knowledge, and advance care for the NF community
Vision: End NF
CTF's work focuses on three primary areas:
Research — The Foundation supports NF research through multiple funding mechanisms designed to: attract talented investigators to NF research, support innovative research, and foster collaborative efforts to find treatments and cures. CTF has funded laboratories that discovered the NF1 and NF2 genes, supported groundbreaking clinical trials, and established the first nationwide NF clinic network and NF patient registry. The Foundation sponsors an annual scientific conference bringing researchers together to discuss the latest scientific developments related to NF. Programs are designed to integrate with and support larger federally funded projects through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) and NIH.
Public Education & Patient Support — CTF engages in public education and provides support services to patients and families affected by NF.
Advocacy — The organization works to increase public awareness and encourage the establishment of NF clinics.
