American Friends of the Czech Republic (AFOCR) is the voice of the American community supporting close & strong czech-U.S. relations. We advocate for the czechs as a bulwark of freedom & democracy in central europe, a region vital to U.S. interests. We foster ties in the areas of diplomacy, governmental affairs, business, security, & education. AFOCR was founded to advocate for czech admission into the north atlantic treaty organization. Since 1995, we have worked to:- sponsor visiting czech parliamentarians to shadow members of the U.S. congress & meet with U.S. government officials- help build & engage the czech caucus in the U.S. congress & offer to conduct briefings for congress & the state department- meet with officials in the czech republic to foster cooperation & understanding- cooperate & partner with the embassy of the czech republic to the U.S. to conduct educational & commemorative events- host lectures & seminars with U.S. & czech political & academic leaders
