Mal Mixon was an entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded and led the foundation alongside his wife. He earned degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Business School, served as a Marine Corps officer including service in Vietnam, and built Invacare Corporation into a global leader in home medical products with $1.7 billion in sales. He served as Chairman of The Cleveland Clinic Board of Trustees and the Cleveland Institute of Music, and was a board member of Case Western Reserve University, Sherwin-Williams Co., and Park Ohio.

Barbara W. Mixon

Barbara is Mal's wife of 58 years and co-founder of the foundation. She has been an active partner in the foundation's philanthropic work.
