Background: Youthprise and Ramsey County Community Corrections partnered to address growing youth involvement in the correctional system. Key statistics:

Percentage of youth 14 and younger on probation increased from 18% (2010) to 30% (2013)

50% of these youth were formerly Human Services cases

25% were simultaneously involved in both systems

Out-of-home placements for Juvenile Corrections doubled between 2012-2013

Approximately 60% of youth in the Correctional system experience mental health needs

Placed youth are younger and primarily African American

Program Type: Three-year investment using a national, evidence-based High Fidelity Wraparound strategy that has successfully reduced out-of-home placements in Child Welfare and Corrections

Target Population: Approximately 30-50 families annually in the Juvenile Corrections system

Funding Includes:

Wraparound certification costs

Related travel costs

Flex funds for after-school programming access

Family needs not covered by county resources or medical insurance

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be an agency with capacity to meet cultural needs of target population

Must demonstrate practice embracing family voice and choice

Must facilitate connecting families to natural supports
